No, it’s not a demand from a hungry preschooler. foodNow is a new event in KC, one that brings farmers, chefs and eaters together to celebrate local food on Aug. 28. The evening begins with nibbles and wine on the roof of Historical Stowe Hardware Building on West 13th Street, in the West Bottoms. After sunset, everyone moves to a continuous table in the street below—that’s one table for 300 people. Only restaurants that source food locally were asked to play; those who agreed include the blue bird bistro (owner Jane Bell’s the muscle behind the event), Bo Ling’s, The Classic Cup, The Drop, The Farmhouse, Fervere Bakery, JJs, Le Fou Frog, R Bar & Restaurant, Pachamama’s, Renee Kelly’s Castle and others. The list of farmers is even longer. Proceeds benefit the Kansas City Community Gardens, Greater Kansas City Food Policy Coalition and Kansas City Center for Urban Agriculture. Go, eat, learn, now.
